Thanks for dropping by to our little place on the World Wide Web. We’re not sure how you got here, but we’re glad you’ve decided to stop for a few moments. Our names are Justin and Sean, and we’re two guys who’ve decided to start this podcast - the dot matrix. On this website you’ll be able to download our podcasts and also link to websites or other stuff that we talk about on each episode.
But you're here at the About the Podcast page for a reason, to find out what the heck this podcast is all about. So read on champ. You've gone this far...
Who are Sean and Justin and why should we care about what they talk about?
Good point. We guess you should know about who we are. To find out, just visit About Sean or About Justin and you'll get the 4-1-1.
Stop stalling and tell us what the dot matrix is all about already!
Well, the reason for the podcast is simple. We like to talk and think the World would be intersted in what we have to say. We talk about a bunch of things - our lives (which we're sure everyone will be interested in), but also our thoughts on current events, movies, politics, music, you name it, it's all on our list of things we want to talk about.
The name the dot matrix came to us after months of trying to decide on a name. We like the name because it's kind of ambigious - "I wonder what this podcast it about?" It refers to our generation - growing up in the 80s, it's hard not to remember the noise those old dot matrix printers made!
Most importantly, the two words dot and matrix are important words for the flavour of our podcast. In our podcast, we hope to do some dot connecting. We don't know about you, but we find the World just drifting more and more apart. People just being disconnected from each other. We've known each other for most of our lives, and that grounds our conversations in a common place. But we also have lead very different lives and this podcast (and whenever we get together) gives us the opportunity to expose each other to the parts of our Worlds that don't connect. We think everyone should be doing this - by this we mean talking of course! That's when you really start to connect the dots.
And the word matrix gets at what is always at the core of all of our conversations - trying to figure things out. Matricies are used in mathematics, strategic planning, and whatever else as a problem solving tool. So put the words dot and matrix together and you get what we're trying to do here.
Okay, that's enough with the getting to know you stuff. Go back to the homepage and start listening! We hope you enjoy what we're putting out there!
